RULES
Rules governing play in WSAPWB League games shall be, in order, the Official Baseball Rules (OBR) as issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball in the Sporting News Edition, except as amended in the Official PONY Baseball Rules and by amendments adopted by the WSAPWB as allowed by Official PONY Baseball Rules.

West Seattle PeeWee has adopted rule amendments for each Division (Mustang, Pinto and Shetland). The goal of these amendments is to simplify and improve the play of the game while making it easier for players to understand the basic principles of the game. As players move up through the Divisions, the amendments reflect the advancement of skills and understanding of the game players should have at that level.

WSAPWB recommends that parents be familiar with these amendments and how they apply to the Division their child plays in. Coaches should also understand these amendments, and it is recommended that coaches have a copy of the OBR, PONY Rules and these amendments if need arises to clarify how the rules are applied. The "40 Baseball Rules Myths" section on the Umpires Page is also a good resource to clarify some common misconceptions about baseball rules.

The following amendments have been adopted by WSAPWB for play in the Shetland Division:

    1. The entire team may play in the field.

    2. No player shall remain on the bench for more than one inning:

    3. To encourage rotation of players, no player shall remain at the same defensive for more than two innings, and no player shall remain in the infield for more than two innings.

    4. A batter shall be declared out after failing to hit a fair ball after six swings at the ball on the tee.

    5. The batter is out if there are three strikes before the sixth swing or pitch. Missed swings are counted as strikes, as are foul balls and foul tips. A batter is not out on a foul ball or a foul tip unless it is the also the sixth swing.

    6. Striking the tee with the bat, hitting the ball that does not travel outside the 10’ arc, or hitting a ball that travels out of bounds, shall be called foul balls, with normal base rules consequences.

    7. The ball shall be hit off a tee located on or in front of home plate.

    8. The home umpire/coach shall remove the tee after each hit and shall replace it there after the play stops.

    9. Base runners are not permitted to steal or leadoff base and shall remain in contact with the base until the ball is hit.

    10. Changing rules for T-Ball is allowed upon mutual agreement of both coaches.

    11. Regulation games shall be Four innings in duration and no new inning shall start after one hour and fifteen minutes from the scheduled start time of the game.

    12. No official score will be kept for T-Ball.

    13. Time shall be called immediately in case of an injury- no further play. Batter and runners stop at the last base legally touched unless forced to the next base.

    14. Each team must supply one umpire for each game.

    15. Players, managers and coaches shall remain in the dugouts, on the benches or in the prescribed area through out the game. The prescribed area for our league is within 5 feet from the dugout opening.
